MEET YOUR HOST
Hey, it’s Lydia your host, figured we could get to know each other a little more. I love hosting gatherings & parties, most weekends I have something going on and love it. Starting years ago I fell in love with design, it’s one of my favorite things to do to fill my cup. I started Balsam and Bear Haven not only to host but also I get to be very expressive with my design choices.
My house is fully renovated and I still had so many ideas/ styles in mind they just had to come out! It’s called being a dreamer. Being in nature and with nature is my preferred destination. I long to have a large farm with all the animals you can dream of that classify as “farm”, I currently have ducks, chickens and rabbits; the gateways ones but dreaming of cows, goats and horses. You’ll see me in crocs 97% of the time cause they are life and super comfy. Never owned a pair before last year but my 2 children had them and thought it’s about time and I will never look back; always in sports mode running after them.
HOW BALSAM AND BEAR HAVEN BEGAN
I had come across this little cabin in New Brunswick on Realtor back in the very beginning 2023. I remember sitting on the couch that was in the middle of our own reno and being like, I need this! PEOPLE need this!!! As if I didn't have enough going on already, but I had dreamt it all up to the tiny details. Sadly nothing was lining up to purchase it, I tried.
Fast forward to July when suddenly everything started falling into place, I re reached out to the realtor like 6 months later praying it was still available as I no longer saw it on the Realtor. Guess what, August 9th we closed on it, without seeing it, I just FELT it and then we officially owned my dream little cabin on 27 acres in a small town called St. Ignace. Then began all the planning and finding inspiration to fill this space with love and design.
This was my favourite part, scouring the world wide web to find just the right touch to make everything have a feeling of warmth, cozy, and invigoration. Late night texting with my sister to figure out the perfect name, a gazillion opinions later the perfect fit was found. Balsam and Bear Haven; ”Balsam” trees all over New Brunswick, “Bear” being one of the many animals that they have hanging around and lastly “Haven” the place where your soul finds rest.
My whole heart and soul has been poured into this place and it’s been nothing short of an amazing journey! We had the best contractor working on it to get it ready for your stay and wow, it really is a small glimpse of heaven we can’t wait to share with you. Balsam and Bear Haven awaits you!
